Natural weight loss methods: Green Tea

Green Tea Fact is from the same source as ordinary tea, or black tea, but instead of undergoing the fermentation process that creates black tea, green tea leaves are simply dried before packing. Green Tea is high in anti-oxidant-rich flavonoids which destroy free radicals absorbed by the body from the atmosphere. Free radicals compromise healthy cell structure and can cause the body to age more quickly and increase the possibility of cancer, heart disease, and strokes. Tea is a healthy option for combating the onset of these and other illnesses.

Green Tea and Weight Loss
It appears, according to available research that claims regarding green tea’s ability to promote weight loss is of very limited scope, being based around a single study. This was surely a deficient study, with only ten subjects, and lasting only 24 hours, to provide conclusive evidence. The study claimed, not a ten pound weight loss in six weeks, but a modest 4% increase in energy expenditure which translates to an additional 80 calories burnt per day. At these rates it would take more than a year to drop eight pounds.
Green tea may help to kick-start your metabolism, and increase your body’s energy-burning capabilities, but without the support of a healthy eating and exercise plan, you are unlikely to see significant results. However, other health benefits make a very worthwhile beverage choice.
Buying and Using Green Tea
If you do decide to use, Teabag or loose tea can be purchased at supermarkets and health-food shops. Loose tea is recommended as it is usually fresher and contains more beneficial properties; look for properly sealed packs for fresher contents. Let the tea steep, fully to infuse for at least five minutes.
Tea can also be administered through pills and patches, but herbal supplements are largely unregulated, making the purchase. Studies on efficacy were conducted only on the drink, while patches of this kind are generally a gimmick and should be avoided.
